Useful Tips for Headshot/Business Photography session
It is important to have a well-photographed portrait, as every profession has its own unique styles and more. The right photo strengthens your professional image and the trust that customers will place in you before a single word is spoken. On the other hand, a photo that lacks attention and does not attract the eye may cause a customer to pass over your offering.
A professional suit or business-oriented outfit that fits is a classic look, and this is true both for men and women. I recommended coming to the photoshoot wearing the suit that suits you best! Avoid shiny cloth ties, as they can take attention away from the rest of your photo. If you decide not to wear a suit, still avoid a white-colored shirt or any shade that matches your tone skin.
Try to avoid fashion brands, they are ever-changing and can cause your portrait to appear dated quickly.
For color, try to stay away from anything too bold, having intricate patterns, or having an overly rough texture. Such garments would take attention away from the face. For example, don’t choose a shirt with floral print, checkers, polka dots, stripes, or any other type of intricate fabric pattern. These patterns will make the photo too “busy” and end up distracting.
Choosing darker colors or intermediate tones helps emphasize your eyes and smile. Always avoid lighter colors that are too similar to your skin tone, as they make you appear pale.
Facial treatments of any kind must be done at least 3 days before the day of the photoshoot. After the treatment, our skin becomes very sensitive and makeup does not sit well on top. We must let our skin time to heal before the photoshoot to allow the makeup to be done perfectly.
If you are going to do face waxing, it must be done at least 3 days before the photoshoot as well.
On the day of the photoshoot you need to arrive with a clean and fresh face with no makeup at all.
For men, it is highly recommended to shave the day before so that the makeup can be put on the skin in the best way. And shaved faces always look better and classy.
